durban bits II

Douche*I watched the Emmys the other night. I love Ellen but she was hardly on the show. That was kinda lame.

*I saw Everybody Loves Raymond for the first time on the plane ride back to DC. It was okay. Ray Romano seems like a decent guy. I hate Doris Roberts though. Anyone who has won 3 emmys in a row in the same category needs to remove their name from the next year's consideration. It speaks volumes of your ego and selfishness if you have to keep yearning to be acknowledged without letting someone else have a chance. Of course, she won yet again, so now she has 4. Who votes for her? It's the same freakin' role every year. How 'bout some diversity, people? Bill Cosby never included his name for consideration even once during his show's entire run and Oprah pulled her name out after she won 3 or 4 in a row. That's classy and unselfish. Doris Roberts is a giant douche.

*I really like Kelly Ripa. I think she's hysterical. I never watched that show before (except, occasionally, to watch Kathie Lee cry). She, I think, saved the show and because of her, the show will keep going after Regis croaks. Good casting.

*We STILL have the same 3 movies we got from Netflix 4 months ago. That is inexcusable and irresponsible.

*This movie looks awesome and is getting really good reviews so far. Watch the trailer. Gonna be sad though.

*Somebody from Iran reads my blog. Should I be concerned? Update: I was trying to be somewhat funny but Jeremy pointed this out to me and it's not funny at all.

*I need to buy a laptop very soon. The monitor should be at least 17" and be able to work quickly with high quality design and web software. And it should be somewhat affordable. Any suggestions? Please email me.

*It's been an extremely hard adjustment to go from paradise back to the reality of day to day working. Last week was rough. I am making a few risky changes though so hopefully that will help. Can I please win Powerball? Thanks.

He can't croak fast enough. Met him. He's a prick. And his wife "Joy" is anything but. She's a female prick (or whatever.) Not a Kelly Ripa fan, either. Gave her a shot. She has a major ego. Loves to have the spotlight. Talks waaay too much.
...
Okay...that's my opinion.

Ya know - sometimes ya just have to let those Netflix movies go without watching them or they will linger in your home forever. I know. It happened to us this summer.

Brokeback Mountain is going to be great--read the short story if you get a chance.
As for Doris Roberts--that bitch ain't got nothing on Jessica Walter in Arrested Development.
And finally, as for the person in Iran, I think you should feel grateful. Have you been hearing about all the gay bashing over there lately?
Gay Iran
Maybe your blog is a connection to something some poor Iranian homo needs--like Debbie Gibson news!!

TJ, once again, I love reading your blog. I just hope this doesn't eventually turn into ANOTHER $19.95 recurring monthly charge which will be billed as "DB Entertainment". I've already had to increase my credit card limit twice to accomodate all these monthly charges (including Nexflix...and I do need to find those movies that were last sent to me).

Can't wait for Brokeback Mountain. Thanks for the heads up!

I can't wait to see Brokeback Mountain! I blogged about it awhile back as also having one of the best titles ever. :) Jake Gyllenhal has one of the sexist actors out there. TJ - you ever seen Donnie Darko? :) It's won a lot of prizes, including the top prize at the Venice Film festival. Regardless, it will be worth seeing for me just to see a gay story being told.

I'm back from my home state (and it was awesome - will put pix up soon!) and have laptop suggestions of course :-)

I blogged about this case back in July - apparently the Iranians are denying the allegations saying they sexually assaulted some boy (widely held view that the clerics made these charges up - happens a lot there - but even so they were still under 18 at the time). Bottom line - Shari'a is dangerous and deadly, especially if you are gay. I also have been seeing traffic occasionally from Iran & from some Iranian group in Firenze, Italy. Weird!
