Dog Day Afternoon

I need to get a dog, I really do. I went down to the Circle Saturday afternoon to watch the Pride of Pets. There were so many people and dogs, of course. Lots of hot guys seem to have dogs. I guess it is a good tool to meet people.

I met several dogs, but didn't really speak to their owners. Isn't it interesting how social we are with animals, but not people? When I took care of Bailey, my beagle buddy, I would notice people smiling at him on the street, but they wouldn't even acknowledge me. Imagine if we actually smiled to another human being once in awhile. You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one. Blah.

Overheard:
"Isn't that dog adorable???"
"Yeah, I'd hit that."

Seriously, I pay way more attention to the dog being walked than the walker. I don't know why. I should work on that shouldn't I? Of course it's only certain breeds that really get my attention.

You may have a point, and I've noticed that behavior in myself. But sometimes I do go up to people as I would fondly approach a pooch, and reactions with humans vary. Usually in DC it's one of shock. People can't seem to handle interaction these days.

This Friday my friend Jon said something profound as we stood in Cobalt, "People get addicted to alcohol and drugs because it's just too risky for them to approach people when they're sober."

I miss Bailey and I'm really sad I can't get a dog. Boo wants one as badly as I do too. It's just not fair to keep a cute little beagle all cooped up at home all day while I'm at work...

Now Dbud, you should get a dog! Then I can borrow him when you need a break! :-)

People get addicted to drugs for a variety of reasons (bio, psycho, social), but that's a whole other post.

Obviously, people do use alcohol or drugs in some settings as a social lubricant, but I wouldn't necessarily say that would get them addicted.

The Beagle is addicted to tummy scratches. He's hooked, baby. He'll do whatever you want, man, just don't stop scratchin the tummy . . .

is that so wrong?
