Bigger Is Not Always Better

Check out this lobster claw. The lobster was caught off the coast of New Hampshire, in the Bay of Maine I believe. It weighed 19 pounds. It could totally snap that baby's head off.

Apparently, the bigger the lobster, the tougher the meat. Our friends said it wasn't very good.

This lobster was about 40 years old. There are laws about catching lobsters a certain size and age depending on where it is caught; I guess this catch was legal.

I don't understand how they manage to survive for so many years considering how many predators they have, and how tasty they are.

The Internet is a Series of Tubes

I've posted a bunch of pics from our recent excursion to illustrate this point.

I think these photos would be better if everyone in them had totally shaved chests, orange fake tans and exquisitely plucked eyebrows. How far did you guys have to drive to find wilderness outside of DC?

I appreciate that you're all safety-conscious, sitting atop a large flotation device wearing a safety vest. What, no floaties on your arms?

Posted by: Brian at August 31, 2006 08:38 AM

Mr. Bartender: If you're good, you can come next time.

Aaron: It was about 2 hours from DC. We do have Rock Creek Park and Dumbarton Oaks Park right here in DC that provide a vast amount of wilderness. But no tubing.

Brian: We were forced to wear the safety gear. I would have preferred the floaties.

As I was the photographer I want to clarify there were two lobsters caught. One was 17lbs, the other 19lbs. Only one of them was tough because it was in the process of molting it's shell. I do have to say if they are older than 20 years, they should be thrown back in to the Gulf of Maine.

Hey hottie! Long time no chat!
Looks like you had a blast, despite the ridiculous vests!

Miss you terribly...

TJ, looks like you guys had a great time on the river. Wish we could have made it. Glad you had a successful trip. Somehow any kind of raft/tubing trip down a West Virginian river always reminds me of "Deliverence" SQUEAL!!!
