Beautiful Renovation
Safeway spends tens of dollars renovating the front of their 17th Street location. Isn't it beautiful???
We really need a Wegmans here in DC. They started in my hometown of Rochester, NY. One of the best things to come out of that city.

OMG - I luuuuuuuuuuuuv Wegmans. Wish I had one near me too -- the closest is just a little too far for grocery shopping (40 minutes).

I used to work next to a ghetto giant in Van Ness. The mice and rats would run across the aisles when they thought you were not looking - lovely
But they renovated that one now and it is nice as shit. The mice and rats like the renovation too..

Take note of the former alcove in front of the bike rack. The depression, which has since been filled in, was just deep enough to allow the front tire of your bike to fit while putting it over the top of the rack. Now you can't, and the only places to safely secure your bike are on the sides of the rack. That is when there aren't employees taking a smoke break on the rack who get offended when you want to lock your bike up there.
People who install bike racks are rarely bicyclists, and often idiots.

Ah yes. Wegmans. I always stop at the one in Williamsport, PA on my way back home to Victor.

Ah yes, Food Lion, the trashiest white trash receptacle of "food" and its imitations. Harris Teeter is far more acceptable, although I'm sure it too is evil and union-busting in that lovely Southern way.

Food Lion Matty? Ewww - they can't touch Harris Teeter - I wish they would build a Wegman's in DC or in like Springfield, VA at least... I will say I like working in Springfield since everything is cheaper there - not just b/c it is VA but b/c it is less affluent than the rest of Fairfax... so groceries at the Giant there are really cheap!

Why don't you take a field trip to the Wegman's in Fairfax? I go every so often. Also, Harris Teeter in Arlington is pretty good too. There just isn't enough space for a Wegman's in DC.

Was cool meeting you this weekend.. I don't believe I had a conversation with a Rochesterian and did not mention Wegmans. Of course it's what I miss most about Rochester.. that and Nick Tahou's.. and the old Eastview Mall radio commercials.. and Cole Muffler.. and 98PXY (Scott Spezzano went to my high school). And a million other things...
