Music Suggestions
TJ needs some new music. I like rock and electronic.
Suggestions, please? If I download the song or album, I will give you an electronic bear-hug.
Oh, and yesterday was my good friend, Reenie's, birthday. I went to her junior prom and senior ball. She went to my junior prom. I would post a picture from that event, but I was sporting a fierce mullet, and nobody needs to see that. Happy B-day, Reenie! I am giving you an electronic bear-hug. Feel the warmth.

you can always listen to my band :)

I also highly recommend the Wipers if you like old Portland punk/grunge. Check out: Is This Real, Youth of America and Over the Edge. All are available on the Wipers Box Set for like $25. Don't download it illegally, they need the $!!

Electronic: Check out Bev Stanton a.k.a. Arthur Loves Plastic. She's a local lady DJ remix master: http://www.arthurlovesplastic.com/about.htm
Rock: I can't think of anything new. Maybe Avril Lavigne? {--insert sarcasm here.

Jet's new cd "Shine On" is really good. Yes, it feels like you have heard every song before but they do a mean AC/DC impersonation of the Bon Scott years and Oasis when they were good. "Put your money where your mouth is" is made for strippers. The cd should come with a pole.

Newest Pet Shop Boys is good. Might not be masculine enough for your tough-boy D.C. readers, though.

First, we all need to see the mullet.
Second, music:
The new Baby Dayliner album "Critics Pass Away" is really great. It's new wave electronic, lounge singer, whiteboy rap from a guy who looks like Kevin Bacon.
The Wolfmother album is great too. Sounds like Zeppelin, Hendrix, Sabbath all mixed together.
For just pure electronica goodness, Alien "The Pleasure of Leisure" can't be beat.

Check out Hate Me by Blue October. I think you'll like it.

hmm.. Try the Sneaker Pimps - but go for Becoming X, the album before they dumped Kelli Ali. Hey, it's not new - but I keep going back to it :-)

Check out the new discs from Cedars, French Toast, Two If By Sea and The Hard Tomorrows. Local bands with great records.

I love the new DJ shadow. Also can't stop listening to the new The Rapture CD. Check both out. Hmm.. what else.. did you ever hear the posthumus J Dilla CD? It's great... I highly recommend... and of course, the new Scissor Sisters drips with poppy goodness.

I heard a great song on the Drexel University station.
It goes: da dah dah dah (pause) da, da dah dah dum.
Then it repeats.
I don't remember the title, but I know you'll just love it.

All the gay boys are going to hate on me, but I'm going to say Scissor Sisters latest. It's like throwback disco, as if it never was forced off the airwaves, but still new, ingenious and playful.

Check out Barry Adamson! His new one, "Stranger on the Sofa" is pretty great, but "As Above, So Below" is his best. It's hard to describe, but it's like James Bond music thrown through the looking glass.

First - I second the mullet appearance - we won't laugh, really..
Second - I recently downloaded the Killers second album, Sams Town. Not as good as the first, but if you were a fan of old school alt. rock, like the cure, smiths, morrisey, ect., you may like this one.. Just throwing that out there..

At the request of durban bud, here is my (lengthy) list of music recommendations:
My Favorites:
Nyles Lannon - Chemical Friends - Electronic music with Nyles playing guitar and singing. Great stuff!
Persephone's Bees - Notes From The Underworld - Fun, pop music heavy on the keyboards.
Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins - Electronic sort of psychedelic pop music.
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn - This is the only "electronic" Bright Eyes CD. My favorite BE CD.
The Postal Service - Give Up - I believe you told me that you have already heard this. Pop electronica.
Depeche Mode - Playing The Angel - New, classic Depeche Mode. A return to the synth stuff.
Death Cab For Cutie - Plans - Actually, all of the DCFC CD's are great. Not all are as electronic sounding as Plans though.
Dntel - Life Is Full Of Possibilities - Mostly instrumental electronic stuff. Nice.
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself - Imogen, her keyboards and some guest musicians. I like it!
Guster - Ganging Up On The Sun - Not electronic, but I love this band.
Fischerspooner - #1 - Their first CD that I didn't even know about until Morel told me about it.
matt pond PA - Several Arrows Later - Not so electronic, but good alt-rock sort of stuff.
Junkie XL - Today - Darker, electronic music sometimes with a flamenco feel!
More Good Stuff:
Boards Of Canada - The Campfire Headphase - Instrumental, electronic, ambient stuff.
The Album Leaf - Into The Blue Again - More (mostly) instrumental, electronic, ambient stuff.
Brian Eno - Another Day On Earth - Classic Eno electronica with vocals.
Grandaddy - Just Like The Fambly Cat - I have always liked this band. Great lyrics. Fun stuff.
Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place - Great instrumentals.
James Figurine - Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake - Electronic with vocals. Pretty good.
The Elected - Sun Sun Sun - Folky sort of songs with electronic and acoustic instruments.
Magnet - The Tourniquet - Darker electronic and acoustic stuff.
Electric President - s/t - Electronic goodness.
Stars - Set Yourself On Fire - Electronic blips and beeps with vocals here.
I have named specific CD's for most artists above, but check out some of their other recordings as well. It's all good!
