Pan's Labyrinth

It's time for some upcoming movie education.

This movie preview is for one of those dramas with some horror and a whole lot of fantasy with special effects added. They're selling it as "a fairy tale for adults." It better be; I really need one of those. Hopefully, I will understand it. It doesn't come out until the very end of December, but I'm here to spread the buzz and help educate you people. It looks really good!

The voice-over is cheesy, but watch it for the visuals:

I may attempt to see a movie this weekend. Maybe Shortbus, or The Kuh Ween, or Running With Scissors (although I'm concerned it will ruin the book for me).

I'll also be seeing this documentary when it hits DC in a couple weeks:

And I need to rent some good scary movies this weekend, to get into the holiday spirit, while ignoring the kids ringing my doorbell.

dBud's favorite scurry films:

Halloween
Alien
Aliens
Burnt Offerings (bad movie but really creepy)
When a Stranger Calls (the first 20 minutes of the original)
Phantasm (silly but creepy)

I haven't seen a good scary film in a long, long time. Let me know if any decent ones have been made in the past 20 years, cuz I sure haven't found any.

I actually watched Hellbent... not really too bad for a cheesy horror flick... and some hot gay men to boot... just get a few drinks in you first...

Phantasm scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Did you hear NBC is refusing to air ads for the Dixie Chicks movie?

As long as you don't go see those sick and depraved movies like Saw, Saw III, Hostel and the like. They literally churn my stomach... In my mind, fake violence and horror (monsters, ghosts etc) are ok, but blood-torture movies?! Yuck.

Even the Grudge doesn't scare me as much as those... though it gets close! Why you made me watch that movie...

I saw Hellbent with Dagon and Joe of "My God" when it came out. I thought it was awesome. They thought ...

Well, your mileage might vary.

If you really want to see something scary, watch "Captial Crimes" at the following link. The scariest part being that there very likely could be a sequel.

How about John Carpenter's "The Thing"?

I am so excited to see Pan's Labyrinth as well.

"The Thing" really creeps me out. I have "28 Days Later" which is scary too. I actually want to see "Saw III" though.

I think Ju-On the movie they made before The Grudge was extremely scurry.
