Bear Hibernation

Last night I visited the Korean Lady and purchased a pint of Ben & Jerry's Half-Baked ice cream. I ate the whole thing. And I didn't feel guilty. I know what this means; I am starting my winter hibernation process.

Since it gets dark earlier, I would prefer to stay in and not be seen. And if it's raining out, forget it. I find myself napping more frequently, avoiding the gym and eating more. It could be seasonal affective disorder, but I think it has more to do with my bearishness; it's in my nature.

Anyway, it's raining here today, but I voted. There was no one else at the polling station. DC is the bluest "state" there is; John Kerry got 93% of the vote, so the outcome here is less than enthralling. I still feel a sense of pride after I vote. It makes me sad that some people avoid it, especially in places with close races. Perhaps it should be required in a democracy, like jury duty, taxes, and sodomy.

I voted on an electronic voting machine, and it went smoothly; however, I think we should all get a paper receipt from those types of machines. And I believe all voting should be standardized, especially after the 2000 election. If Bush had any brains, this would have been taken care of years ago.

I love election nights. They're like a less glamorous Oscar night, with ugly people and bad toupees.

If George Allen, Santorum and Tester all go down, I will have the most explosive orgasm imaginable, Peter North style!

So I am settling in this evening, ordering some Chinese food, curling up on the couch with a blanket and watching CNN.

The pre-hibernation routine has begun, indeed.

UPDATE: I am bubbling in my panties right now; you have no idea...

You mean Matt Ramsey... remember Peter North was originally in GAY yes GAY porn... (and a very good bottom I might add) I have the DVD if anyone wants to borrow it ;-)

You'll need to invent an emoticon in order to send out your bear hugs over the internet.

dBud: Here you go.

Kelly: You expected a gay marriage amendment to pass in a predominately republican state?

If the gay community would have not been so hot and heavy on MARRIAGE and actually realized that was NOT the way to go, we as a community would more than likely be in a better position. Of course, with folks like Santorum screaming that if we allow gay marriage the next step is man on dog sex. (Nothing wrong with a little doggy style tho...)

It's great that Santonrum and some of the other bad blood has been kicked out. They've been replaced with other blood, but I wouldn't get too giddy about things changing for the better. At this time (and it could change) we still have a republican president and senate and as long as that's the case we are still in for a long 2 years.

Are you all prepared for that explosive orgasm?

Steve - Yes and MLK was a fool to push for equality rather than "separate but equal", I mean look how that turned out... If civil unions are a stepping stone or giving it a different name is incremental progress, then let it be so, but the simple fact is that it is only by strong pushes for cataclysmic change that change itself occurs. The Incrementalist approach was tried by northern blacks for decades before the 1960s and had little or nothing to show for it. Read "Letter from Birmingham Jail", a far better treatise on equality and its struggle than "I have a dream"

Yes I seem to remember the last democratic congress as being all about the gays...
I really don't see things getting better but I suppose it's possible. here's to hope and gridlock, and no one being stupid
