My Name is Luka

It's my birthday. I live on the second floor.Today is Suzanne Vega's birthday. How did you celebrate?

One way to pay tribute is by annoying a co-worker. Start humming Tom's Diner over and over in your cubicle. The lyrics go something like this:

"Duh duh duh du duh du du duh du du da duh da duh duh duh da"

I guarantee they'll start humming it later on when they're at the printer. And they'll think of you.

Her best song is Left of Center from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. It's my theme, y'know.

She's 48. Praise her.

Start humming now.

"It is always nice to see you says the man behind the counter to the woman who has come in, she is shaking her umbrella ella ella eh eh eh..."

She went to Barnard, and Tom's Diner (actually Tom's Restaurant--the same place they used in Seinfeld) is right down the street...the food is horrid, and double-decker buses bring Japanese tourists to photograph the place.

Drop the bitch and make the switch. Today is my birthday as well.

I think her best song may be "Small Blue Thing", or maybe "Marlena on the Wall", and I am so glad her unfortunate detour into rock is over along with the marriage that provided that misguidance. She has a new album out. It is supposedly New Yorkish. I hope it is a progression back to the great SV we used to love.

(I celebrated the day by removing varnish from an oak rocker while wearing yellow playtex rubber gloves. Then, I went to the dentist.)

Dagon,

I have lived down the block from Tom's Restaurant for the past 6 years and have never seen a double decker bus go by there. The only bus that comes by there other than the MTA is the Seinfeld reality tour that is hosted by the "real-life" Kramer but his tour has been getting steadily smaller as the years go by. I will agree with you that the food sucks and the only people in Tom's are tourists.

In any event, Happy Birthday to everyone today.

If "Left of Center" is your theme song TJ, then let me give you a BIG MUSCLY HUG. You are so witty and have one of the best blogs I have seen. You mean a lot to so many people out here... including myself. NIP TUG. SLURP. Keep up the good work. ;)

I actually went to "Tom's Diner" in Prospect Heights Brooklyn when I used to live near there. It was always crowded there. Anyway, I don't think she lived near there, but it's a really cool place.

We are more alike than you know (or probably would ever want to admit.) Left Of Center is my theme too! Well, it's featured pretty prominently on the soundtrack of my life, at least.

Oh, but her best song is the Queen and the Soldier. Especially relevant in this time.

SOOOO completely in love with you!!!!

First- All you had to say was "Tom's diner" and I was doing the fucking da da DA da, shit.

Second-- the umbrella-ella-ella eh eh eh thing made me laugh out LOUD in my office. People were looking at me.

The double decker bus brings 'em to the cathedral, I think, one block over.
But I had forgotten about the "Real Cramer" tours! I bet the Michael Richards affair killed that business.

I have always loved "Left of Center"
That soundtrack introduced me to a bunch of cool bands that I grew to love like New Order & Echo & the Bunnymen.

marlena on the wall......caremel. waterver!!!
she's a classic....love her

She was great when I saw her perform at S.F.'s Fillmore a few years ago. She actually performed her old hits (not disclaiming them like some other singer-songwriters *cough-Aimee Mann-cough*), and had the whole audience singing along with that bit from Tom's Diner.

Go buy her new album "Beauty and Crime" it was just released on July 17th. It is quite good, then you can praise her even more.
