Go See Alice
I went to the pharmacy to drop off a prescription, and I ran into Jimbo, sitting patiently waiting for his pills, like a furry Judy Garland. It wasn't surprising to run into another blogger at a pharmacy, since we're always in so much goddamn pain.
So we're all, "Hey gurl, you refillin' your Lunesta or Levitra?" "No, gurl- I've moved on to See Alice, cuz I think she'll know."
I'm just kidding. We don't talk like that. We're way too masc. Know what I'm sayin'?
Actually, Jimbo said he was getting antibiotics, but I suspect that's code for fissure ointment.
Remember like 10 years ago when there was no Ambien or Lunesta or Viagra or See Alice? And we actually had to fall asleep on our own, or just deal with having drunk dick?!?
We're so fucking spoiled.
Except me.
What I don't understand is why Tylenol PM is available over-the-counter and Lunesta requires a prescription. If both drugs depress activity in the part of the brain that controls sleep, aren't they -- in a sense -- doing the same thing? The sad thing is, I took a college course on how the brain functions. I recall nothing.
It's a good thing I'm dealing with my Adult ADD now, pharmacologically.

Good thinking and I've often wondered that, also. I'm a big fan of Lunesta. The stuff knocks me out but I don't feel doped up the next day! It'll take me a year to catch up on decades of lost sleep :P I've never done the PM thing, but I know a lot who have. Um, but you know you're getting old when you run into your buds at the pharmacy. LOL

Usually a good glass of red wine or tab of melatonin knocks me right out. However, I'm a light weight.

I try to not have any demons keeping me up at night. That's the best policy. Just don't worry about things you should worry about and you'll get a much better night sleep. That's what I do!
I never have drunk dick with the BF no matter how slurrry I am. But with others... I sometimes have that problem. It's embarrassing. I have to say... "I SWEAR IT IS THIS BIG! NO.. REALLY!!! I am serious! I just drank too damned much!"

Seriously I wish I could be all yoga-pilates-my-way to zen happiness and sweet sleep but i'm still burning the wick at both ends of the candle so unfortunately that means I need chemical help to sleep during the week - on the weekends, no stress equals peaceful zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Solution, drop this ridiculous work culture BS that America has signed onto - people live longer in france and with less pills because they work less... duh. i so want to move to holland with your sister. do they need a manny?

Quick question, TJ: How did you discover that you had adult ADD? I really am curious -- I may well have it. 'Cuz I often find myself ... hey, has anybody seen the new Amy Winehouse video?

Tylenol PM is OTC because basically it is just a mixture of Tylenol and the active ingredient in Benadryl. How many people actually realize that most OTC sleep-aids are nothing more than repackaged antihistamine? Since I'm not usually in pain when I can't sleep, I just drop a Bennie tab instead. Not only do I get a good night's sleep, but also keep the hay-fever at bay in Spring and Fall.

Pharmaceuticals make for a happy marriage. Well, those and separate bathrooms.

I started wearing ear plugs while I sleep and it has really helped me tremendously. I have never slept better.
