Gucci Little Piggy

I just listened to a rough tracklist of In Rainbows, Radiohead's latest, and my ears are still ringing. The Bends is one of my favorite albums of all time. OK Computer was interesting and different, if a little pretentious. Then, something happened. Something unlistenable -- like a cross between Pink Floyd and my dead cat Chammie crying and screaming from heaven cuz Jesus called her fat. Yet, they've somehow managed to become one of the biggest bands in the world.

I appreciate all kinds of music and support anybody doing something unique, but I still need a melody and a beat. I want to like their newer material. I want to hang with the cool kids and discuss the obscure meanings behind the atmospheric textures and despondent lyrical wailing, but I just don't get it.

Little Miss Sunshine, Rihanna, where you at?

ahhh, it's finally happened. you are now about to cross that unavoidable line between "this dance song makes me want to roll all night, and i feel gorgeous!" to "i don't get this new shit". next thing you know, you'll be questioning the brilliance that is "my humps". either cross the line tj, or end up at 50 wearing a pink union suit in a gay bar, dancing to cher songs wtih a cocktail in your hand and a butt plug up your ass.

They made you some kind of laughing stock, because you dance to disco and you don't like rock.

So...um...I guess you don't like Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, DNA or Mars. But they were fabulous. Everything new sucks. Badly.

God, I'm glad I'm old. I may die soon but I've not only had a life but I've had an interesting one. Lots of wild and crazy music. Everything from Hendrix, Cream, etc in the 60s to CSNY, Santana, and the beginning of punk in the 70s, No Wave, Joy Division, Gun Club, Birthday Party, Throbbing Gristle, Surgical Penis Klinik, Angry Samoans, etc in the 80s. Ok, so the 90s weren't so great. But it started pretty good with Throwing Muses and I was listening to the Smiths and the Pixies. WHFS pretty much died at some point in the 90s but no one told management.

These days I like to Django Rheinhart, Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis, Charlie Christian, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker.

From the title I was expecting some reference to sex. I'm stupid, what am I missing?

Anyways, the live tracks presented at RS are not the greatest quality and some are a few years old. It's probably hard to know what the final studio-produced tracks will be like. So I'd say reserve judgment until we get an example of what a real track will sound.

As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

"OK Computer's" presence can still be felt to this day.

My verdict is still out on Radiohead. I do like 'My Iron Lung'-- and some of the songs on Amnesiac... but the band is difficult to listen to.

Radiohead are at the top of my "I don't get it" list.

The Bends is great, and my favorite as well. Of course, this does not bode well for you.

I could not agree more!
I love "the bends" and "pablo honey" and even like "ok computer" but after that they just lost me. It's like they turned into male Yoko Ono's, another one who's "talent" just escapes me.
OK, they say pay what you want for the new album, what did you pay for it?

What Radiohead record doesn't have a "beat?" Come on, you're sounding like a mom who enjoys what you're listening to, and she likes it because "it has a good beat." What the fuck does that mean? "I don't know why people like 'Achy Breaky Heart' so much; I guess it's the beat they like so much." Huh?

I'm not breaking your balls or anything; I love your blog and you're quite handsome. But a nerd has to be a nerd. Don't take this personally, just chuckle.

"Gucci Little Piggy" ... and there I was thinking this was going to be an entry about Suitcase Sally.

I gave up listening to the radio about the same time everyone thought the Backstreet Boys broke up.

Lately I've been obsessed with this band called Silversun Pickups.
