You Without Me, Like Cornflake Without the Milk
It seems many people are committing blogicide lately. I suppose these things ebb and flow. Those who blog get bored, life changes course, they become domesticated, find God, or a co-worker or family member find out some of the evil shit they wrote, so they pull the plug. Most come back; some don't.
I first became aware of Eric when he left a comment on one of my posts long ago. He was one of the first strangers to comment. I checked out his site then and have been following him ever since. So it's sad to see someone with such a unique writing style close up shop, but I understand. And I say: מאחל לך מזל טוב
Methinks he'll be back, though.
There are about five or six blogs I read daily. Once a month, I scroll through my list of links. I usually find one that is no longer active (blogicide!). This month it's Pistolotto. What the dilio?
Ah well, it's just blogging.
Sadly, I'll be at this a bit longer -- cuz I'm a cornflake and you're the milk.

Wow. That song takes me back. What year was that? 88, 89? I was just a guido cub back then.

It was just too painful to watch more than a minute of that - did I miss something further in?
Seriously - if you ever decide to blogicide on us, at least give us some advance warning so that we can switch over to 100% bran with soy. If I'm gonna make a change, it may as well be drastic.

Thank God all my blogs are not closing at once. If that happened, I would need to start, ya know, actually WORKING when I am at work. Keep it up!

Anyone who uses "methinks" is never more than a few posts from imminent destruction. Also, nobody "commits blogicide": some people just stop blogging.

I think Eric will be back for more "musings". Until then I feel sorry for his real-life friends, who will probably have to listen to way too much concentrated trivia about obsolete political boundaries, the finer points of Arabic transliteration, or Episcopalian cookie recipes.

I consider myself more of a squirrel trying to get a nut than a cornflake... or you know... milk. Or a alley-cat-coat-wearing, punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake. Although I’ve been called worse. But if you were to quit blogging I would really hate it.

I used to read We Like Sheep. He used to talk about Fire Island and Sugar Tits. Soon after I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. I felt stupid and thought it was a New York thing. DC blogs don't make me feel stupid.

Yeah, I think most people can use a break at times. You just do what's right for yourself. I'm still waiting for a fellow blogger friend to start back up after a few months hiatus.

I love your blog TJ. It is a daily affirmation that makes me feel good everyday. It is great to hear that you are planning on sticking around for the long haul! :)
As for my own blog, I know I have an active Brettcajun Hater's Club that plots my utter destruction from the blogworld. It makes me grin. Just to poke my wet finger in their ears, I often put obnoxious Jiggy Dances on my blog.
Blogging to me is an outlet to express myself. The BF (buttsex friend) says my blog is really my dating service. I disagree. Through all the bullshit, mischief, stunts, etc.... I somehow make some people smile and help them come to terms with their sexuality. For those few people I do help, I know it is all worth it. ;)
DB: Thanks, Brett. So my blog is like an AA meeting? For me, I blog so my friends don't have to ask, "What have you been up to?" Bypassing small talk is the primary motivation. Also, sex on the side.

Yeah, it would be a shame if you stopped blogging cause, well, there's hardly any other blogs to read...

Would you believe I still have that song in my head?
Posted by: Dennis at October 23, 2007 07:37 PM
Argh. Well everytime this happens I keep remembering I must blog onward.

Well I'm glad to hear you'll be with us a while longer.
Blogging means different things to different people. It is sad when a favorite blog ends. However, I've made many real life friends who I am sure I'll continue to know even if I (or they) discontinue blogging.

I miss me blog, and I always want to post, but I just can't bring myself to be such a hater...Keep on blogin' bud.

Hey, what have you been up to?
Posted by: Brian at October 29, 2007 03:01 PM
Every couple of months I have to completely go through and weed out my blogroll to remove all the blogs that have gone defunct.
Blogicide. I love that term.
