dBud's 2nd Annual Oscar Ballot
Do you think Tilda Swinton's friends ever call her ~ ? Cuz I probably would.
And the winner is...
Patrick - New York, NY
Runners-up:
BobScott (who won last year!) - Washington, DC
Thomas - Los Angeles, CA
The most correct was 15 out of 21. The two runners-up got 14. Most people got around 10 right. No one did really bad...well...except for a certain blogger from the Boston region. No judgments, please.
Honorable mentions:
Ben V. - Salt Lake City, UT
cb - Saint Paul, Minnesota
Jason - Bakersfield, CA
Sorry, Brett - Homer beat you by 1.
Homer: 8
Brett: 7
There was a glitch on a couple fields that may have shown the names of nominees from last year on your ballot email, but luckily none of the movies (they were supposed to be) won anyway.
The top 3 submitters with the most accurate picks will receive a DVD of the fagulous Icelandic film Eleven Men Out. The movie is officially released in the States on March 4th. And no, despite my affection for porn, it's not. Judging by the poster, what's not to like?!? Even The Hollywood Reporter liked the film!

The winner will also receive Goldfrapp's latest CD "Seventh Tree" from Mute Records, which becomes available February 26.

Thanks for playing, kids. Good times.

Kwell? I don't have any to autograph. I used that all up last time! Thankfully, Fort Lauderdale was ALL business on the tennis courts this weekend... so I didn't worry when I had to scratch my itchy crotch.
What about a used jockstrap to the winner?
DB: I like the idea, but what if a lesbian wins? -- she may hurl.

I always fill this ballot out, and I've never seen more than a teensy handful of these films. Well, I've seen the good ones. Like the ones with Daniel Day-Lewis. I usually am just guessing.

Eek....I was thinking the other day about how there aren't any good gay films around these days (BBM notwithstanding) and this film proves my point. Glad they're a sponsor, but I love these reviews from Rotten Tomatoes:
The film might be trying to push boundaries in terms of male nudity, but no amount of penises can save this wannabe comedy that is just not funny.
and
If you detect anything fresh or original in terms of character or story development, you're probably not watching this movie.
DB: Awww, stebbins - you did very well, with 12 correct. I was really routing for you to get a copy. Netflix it!

No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood were great, and Cate Blanchett was awesome in I'm Not There. Those were the only OscarĀ® nominated movies I saw this year, so my ballot was mostly uneducated guesses. But hey, for a Goldfrapp CD and a used jockstrap (gayest prize combo ever!), I'm willing to take a chance.

Please God. Don't let Homer finish higher than me. Tennis Stories over Lemon Meringue Pies. Hillary over Obama. Please let me beat him again. :P

Hmm.. Amazon just recommended Goldfrapp to me recently - and I never submitted a vote in the ballot!
Dang .. I might just have to buy the thing after all.

I think I got more right this year than last year! Yay! Of course I only got two or three right last year...

Maybe if I had seen anything other than "The Simpsons Movie" I would have done better.

Motherfuck! I should have gone with my first impression on all the sound effects and sound editing (Bourne Supremacy). They ALWAYS give it to fight/chase movies.
Shit.

The partner and I were talking last night during the Oscars and discovered that the only movie we had seen this year in the theater was The Simpsons Movie as well.

Yay! I want to thank the Academy, I want to thank TJ for having a great and wonderful Oscar Pool, I want to thank Barack Obama for giving such inspirational speeches...and finally, I want to thank myself, for being so cool...oh and congrats to the other finalists...thanks for screwing up on one of the other answers!

Lemon meringue makes you smarter, Brett.

Oh sure, single me out. :P
Oh well, never saw any of the movies anyways.

Oh, please. Surely the boston fella did better than I did? I just f*cking guessed!

Tennis will make you lose weight Homer. ;)

Can you post a list of the winner in each catagory? I didn't have a chance to watch.

I'm glad someone thinks I'm honorable!

I was starting to fill out a ballot and got about 1/4 into it when I realized I hadn't seen a fraction of the films and didn't know anything about a lot of the categories. You know, best cinematography, best original screenplay, Best group scene, etc. Maybe next time. I'm thrilled that Marion Cotillard won, I did see that one and she was magnifique!

Happy for Tilda's win!
Damn, I guess I'll have to actually buy Goldfrapp's new one.
