You're Not Going to Watch Hotel Rwanda, Are You?

Slate asked their readers to name a Netflix rental they've had in their possession for an extended period of time without ever watching it.

Hotel Rwanda received the most votes. I couldn't agree more. I had that movie for months and kept thinking, I'll watch it soon, but not tonight -- it's too depressing.

I would not return it because it was so well-reviewed, and sending it back without putting it in my DVD player would be giving up on a very important film. I will definitely watch it next weekend.

I finally canceled my membership after returning Born Into Brothels, which I held on to for well over a year. I never watched it.

And I still haven't seen Hotel Rwanda, though I did manage to watch the opening credits before turning it off. Pathetic. It's comforting to know I wasn't the only one.

Ha! I have the third disc of season two of weeds. I watched the first two, right away, but then, 4 months later I'm like, "err...I'lll watch it tomorrow". I don't know if I'll go an entire year before watching it or canceling my subscription, but I'm a bit "meh" about watching movies lately. Nice post!

P.S. Hotel Rawanda is pretty damn good, but yes sad. I cried and vowed never ever to watch it again.

LOL -- yeah that movie IS depressing but Cheadle was absolutely phenomenal in that role.

You have to break down and watch it.

As for us -- we're holding onto a few Six Feet Under and an Amelie disc for months now.

We're all playing right into netflix's hands... rent and don't return -- get charged.

Nice. lol

This has happened to me once or twice, although I can't remember now the names of the films. I really do think twice before adding films to my queue that are well-reviewed but seem 'iffy'.

Pulp Fiction. I know it's supposedly a great movie, but I just can't bring myself to care enough to watch it.

Hotel Rwanda is a great movie. Powerful and gripping. Cheadle is fabulous.

I rented 'Hotel Rwanda' thrice and never watched it either.

I saw it on payperview with my family last Christmas I think. Nothing says "Happy Baby Jesus Day" better than THIS film.

That article is for people who think that "Atonement" was entertaining, yet challenging. Cunts.

Personally, I think I'll pass. I'm already about to give a blowjob to a shotgun after all the scientific documentaries projecting environmental catastrophy I've watched. Much as I do like a good genocide movie now and then.

Three weeks is the longest I will hold onto a movie without watching, then I send it back and put it back in the queue.

Your creative mind once again nails the subject you've written about. We canceled Net-Flix a few years ago after movies sat and sat. The Hotel R was one of those.

OUR problems is sports gets in the way...we're both nuts on Tennis and season was all summer along with Olympics and now Football's starting.

NO time for a movie right now unless it's something hilarious like SORDID LIVES.......... you'd like that.

Funny you mention this. I've had that same damn movie out of the library 2 or 3 times..still unviewed. This indeed seems like some sort of phenomenon...
