Have You Really Ever Loved A Woman?

We had a special guest staying at our home last weekend -- Rob's ex-girlfriend. And by girlfriend, I mean a real honest-to-God woman. Love her!

When I first met Rob they were dating. A year later he was dating me. Awkward! I realize I've been overusing the word awkward lately, but it's really a wonderful and simple way to explain my daily life.

It was never really awkward with her, though. She was completely understanding. I'm sure it wasn't easy but she handled the whole thing with grace and empathy.

He was in the process of coming out when I was introduced to both of them. It was a full year before I came into the picture as his gurlfriend.

We ended up as close friends and eventually attended her wedding to an authentic heterosexual man (I hope!) five years later.

Fast forward nine years after the wedding and she's crashing at our place while in town for work.

I never had a long-term relationship with a woman. I dated a few while in my teens -- and by dated, I mean we went to the mall and shopped at Spencer's and Chess King.

It seems about half of my gay friends had serious girlfriends/wives back when they were closeted. Fascinating!

Just tell me, have you ever really, really, really, ever loved a woman? You got to tell me.

No, never. Not in the "special" way. Never had a girlfriend, though have always had "gurlfriends" -- (AKA "fag-hags").

I have never seen a real-live woman below the waistline, sunshine, nor would I want to. Urghhhhh... The last time I saw female pudenda was 20+ years ago and that was in a post-mortem I was taken to by a medical buddy when we were university students.

I'd prefer to leave my familiarity with the opposite thingie at that.

I do however have many gay friends who like Rob have not only had real girlfriends but several have had real wives (and kids) as well. Before they realised what they really were. I'm like, "duh ... ?"

Weird-o-sexuals!

I haven't loved any woman apart from my mother. Totally gay man here.

Married for 9 years before the homo express caught up with me.

Ah Chess King...such fond memories of really bad clothes.

Drunkenly did it with one woman in college...it was fine. She started to shake during "the act". I thought she had the "big O". Turns out that it was just due to the unheated frat house attic where our liaison took place...hmm. Very shortly after that I did my first dude...it blew the back of my head off...in an incredible way. I guess I got my answer.

BTW...I hope you got the toaster oven as a premium for converting Rob. And good job...he's a nice addition to the team.

Also...just for nothing...I find it doubtful that Bryan Adams has "Ever Really Loved a Woman" either...not sure if this has ever been documented either way or not.

Posted by: Boomer at June 5, 2009 9:40 AM

Never loved one. I practiced a few times, tho.

Did Brett's intervention not work?

Posted by: joe at June 5, 2009 9:48 AM

Oh, yes, I loved my girlfriend.

But the whole "not a dude" thing eventually ended that.

Posted by: Ron at June 5, 2009 10:35 AM

Spencer's and Chess King. What memories.

I have never been on a date with a woman. I have also never had sex with one. Technically, does that make me a virgin?

DB: Not if you now have to use a colostomy bag.

Posted by: homer at June 5, 2009 12:58 PM

Yes but she was really butch and was attracted to "sensitive" men.

Once I came out of Mommy... I never looked back.

Did the boys when a younger juvenile, had a girlfriend in high school, then, it was messed upppppp. Didn't understand what is going on. Oh, men, oh yeah! That musky, hot scent. Checking my "meltmail.com" email address. This email should evaporate after 3 hours, we'll see. Those sultry, warm nights down south, as a younger man... yum yums.

Oh my god, this post made me laugh. And then the comments made it even better.

"Not if you now have to use a colostomy bag."

Oh Mister TJ you iz BAAAD! I nearly choked on my cookie.

Posted by: Boomer at June 5, 2009 9:50 PM

Nope - never slept with a woman; never will.

Homewrecker!

It's Rob though, so it's ok, cuz you know it's Rob. If it was you I'd be falling on my ass laughing. "Oh gurl, I am NOT going there, it just isn't furry enough!"

Posted by: copperred at June 6, 2009 3:51 AM

I loved Spencers and Chess King - and my younger sister loved it when she could steal my clothes from Chess King.

Posted by: Robguy at June 6, 2009 10:55 PM

Never loved any but took the dive twice. The first time I vomited and the 2nd time was 'complicated'. (I wanted him, he wanted her, and she wanted me.)

Btw, if you convert one more, you get that gay cruise to the Bahama's!

Posted by: moby at June 7, 2009 12:07 AM

You stole a "straight" man away?? Damn! :-)

Posted by: cb at June 7, 2009 10:03 AM

For the record, I dated three women in my college days – However, I also had a boyfriend in high school and a few other candidates thereafter. I was not unwise in the ways of the gays - TJ was not my first.

2 girlfriends and 1 boyfriend. my first girlfriend is now engaged to my cousin. "Please rise if your cock has been in the bride" AWKWARD!

Posted by: DPOE at June 7, 2009 8:37 PM

ugh. one time in my life I was with a female and I hadn't even hit puberty...talk about awkward. It was my mother's boyfriend's daughter...she was maybe four years older than I was at the time and I think I was 11 or 12. she wanted to play "house." gawd, was I naive!! my sister was the baby and it was time for a nap. I already knew I was "different" then, and it only took the one time to make me realize I never wanted to be that close to a vajayjay ever again. thanksss...

Well thanks to the fact that I really like women as people and *especially* to pot, yes I had sexual relationships with women until my early thirties. I knew I was gay, but at a certain age (and in certain recreational states of mind) I thought I could do anything I wanted. Then (somehow) I managed to get into a relationship with an attractive woman who made me laugh with her great sense of humor, and had her life's act together. I thought I would get married, but when we were out together and my head would whip around when an attractive guy walked by on the street, I just felt really REALLY bad. I had also had sex with guys by that time, and the guy experiences just blew the girl sex right out of the water for me, no contest. I broke it off with her. I've never regretted it, especially after seeing some of the devastation some of my previously married friends with children are going through who weren't so lucky in the former spouse department. Yes sir, glad to have dodged that bullet.

Woman love, yes. 9 years worth, sorry we broke up. Still love her lots.

I used to help run what we believe was the first bisexual men's group on the net over at eGroups, which was bought and became Yahoo Groups. What I learned was simple yet astonishing: As in nature, human diversity rules. Give up thinking there's just black and white, plus and minus, yes and no. Kinsey got it right. It's a spectrum.

True story: One of my group's members had lived gay all his life. Then a friend, female, said to him "let's hook up!" He tried it. He liked it. He then went manic on all of us in the group totally pissed off that no one had told him how great women can be and set out to find a full time girlfriend. Surprise!

As per usual, getting this stuff studied and well understood in the field of psychology is way to SCARY to happen in our day and age, mainly because of the male macho cultural stereotype mandate.

My net friend Thomas used to have a two dimensional test over at his home site. (He recently took his site down for revision). Two dimensional tests are best we've got for now. Basically you scored yourself on the plane of experience (gay or straight) relative to interest (gay or straight). Keep an eye out for his site to return:
